The mild winter has prevented the use of a tractor to backfill the drainage ditches. Anyone who has half an hour to spare and a spade is asked to assist with this task in any spare time he or she my have. Be warned it is heavy work and take care as you are not insured.
Large stones and rocks should not be put back into the ditch. These will be removed at a later date. The ditches should be ‘over filled’ to allow for sinkage.
The green will be rolled later in the year.
As a point of interest the water being drained from the green has not stopped flowing since the drainage pipe was laid. It is currently draining at a rate of 1,152 litres/253 gallons per day.
