Reading Room Minutes – March 5th 2013

Present: Cathy Ayers, Hilly Dobson , Keith Manning, Mike Phillipson, and Stephen Allen

Apologies: Pam Allen, Stewart Ayers and Anna Corbett

Matters arising:

  1. The February 9th Coffee Morning was a success raising £47. Thanks to Hilly.

Treasurer’s report:

The bank balance is healthy at £2,458 slightly up on this time last year – even taking into account the increase in energy costs over the past year. The Treasurer presented his draft report before the AGM and was commended for his work. The possibility of further grants will have to be researched if we anticipate more capital expense.

Needs for the future:

Thepossibility of replacing the Reading Room accessibility ramp was discussed. Further ideas for capital expense will be canvased at the next Coffee Morning.

Current Events Calendar: Mike presented an updated on-line calendar for approval.

Other Business

  • The chicken hut has gone and the fly- tipped rubbish has been cleared. Stephen made it clear that he didn’t want any more rubbish dumped against his garden wall and that the dumping of rubbish and disposal by burning behind the Reading Room should cease
  • Treasurer and secretary are both willing to stand again. Cathy expressed unwillingness to stand again for chair. Anna is willing to take this on but limited to just chairing meetings. More committee members are needed. The afternoon teas bring in essential funds and should be prioritised over other social functions.. We need someone to take on responsibility for catering events.

Next meting AGM March 19th
