George also did the BBQ

All our wonderful cake bakers who never fail to provide delicious treats especially Jane, Jean, Ruth, Alison and Tom our regular bakers.

This event involved a lot of hard work by residents and sadly the turnout was poor on the day.

Thankfully Julie and her two grandchildren came along with Emma and her children, Martina with Phoebe, Jasmine and Evie and Dawn and her children and Hilly’s relatives. Two walkers enjoyed tea and cake and gave a donation and an Australian couple who were passing on their holiday who also gave a donation and thanked us for our warm welcome and our fantastic Village Hall. Mr and Mrs Duff gave their apologies and kindly gave £10 donation, thank you.

Conflict of Interest

The Reading Room committee is managed by a small number of volunteers (local residents) with general responsibility and no legal powers. It was deemed this item not relevant at this time.

The Reading Room’s main function is to be a facility available to all residents and for individual personal use when hired. All committee members are key holders and can open the Reading Room to any resident wishing to use it. A laptop is available with Wi-Fi and a printer. All we ask is a donation be made towards the paper and printer ink. We stock a huge range of books that can be purchased – donations go towards the running costs of the building. A wheelchair ramp is available and additional handrails are due to be fitted.

Sunday 28th August VILLAGE FAIR and Scarecrow Trail

URGENT REMINDERS To all residents
If you are happy to make/display a scarecrow for this year’s event please advise Cathy or Moira of your design and clues for where it will be located. We can then add your scarecrow to the map.

DUCK RACE – Tickets are being sold for the first race and other race tickets will be available to buy soon. URGENT HELP NEEDED
An urgent safety matter has been reported. The bottom two steps leading down into the Beck have rotted away. Stewart is due to provide details on what materials we need in to order to build two new steps. The gravel needs topping up to all steps. Once materials have been delivered Stewart needs help to build the steps and infill them. Please let him know if you’re happy to lend a hand. The Duck Race can only proceed if this work is carried out!! In the event that Races are cancelled, your ticket money will be refunded. We hope this will not be necessary.

Date of next meeting: We can only continue with village events with your support. Please come along and join your village committee.
