Minutes of meeting 10th November 2015

Present: Cathy Ayers, Stuart Ayers, Martina Miller, Jonny Handley and Hilda Dobson

Apologies: Mike Phillipson and Gerry Hannah

Matters arising from the previous meeting held on 13th October 2015.

Village Safety and Signage

New road safety signs have been delivered. Stuart Ayers kindly offered to erect the signs at suitable locations throughout the village. Stuart and Jonny agreed to walk round the village to agree key safety areas.

Correction (Mr Wyvill’s property – Mill Lane)

The property currently being refurbished will be renamed ‘Heron Corner’.

Treasurers Report October 2015 (to follow)

Bank Balance £3,500

Reading Room Oil

Stuart agreed to check the oil and order a further 500 litres.

Any Other Business

Reading Room Hire

A discussion took place and agreed that all future bookings are the responsibility of the committee member who takes the booking. Furthermore, the committee member be responsible for room setup, heating and locking/unlocking the Reading Room. Permission to adjust the boiler settings allowed for committee members only. The Hirer to contact the committee member responsible to report any problems.

New Booking – 17th November Parish Council Meeting 7 p.m – 8 p.m

Feedback Halloween Event

The recent Halloween Bring and Share Supper was a huge success. Many homemade dishes and desserts were shared and enjoyed by all who attended. Thank you to Hilly and her family who worked hard preparing the Children’s party and providing the entertainment. 23 children joined in the fun and games. Thank you to all helpers and donations of prizes and activities.

Dates for Your Diary

Coffee Morning Saturday 14th November, 10 a.m – 12 noon. Jonny and Olivia Handley agreed to run this event.

There will be no Coffee Morning in December. A Christmas Afternoon Tea has been arranged for Sunday 13th December, 2 p.m – 5 p.m. Martina to advertise in D&S and prepare poster for Reading Room. A collection box will be made available with the proceeds to go to a chosen Children’s Charity.

Saturday 12 th December 2015 – Reading Room Christmas decoration to go up.

A Christmas/New Year event to be agreed, further details to follow soon.

New Year Bring and Share Supper event to be arranged. We need to know firm numbers in order for this event to go ahead. Please register your interest with a member of the committee. Further details to follow.

The Reading Room Committee would like to thank all our supporters and volunteers for their continued help. We have enjoyed another successful year.
