To increase the supply of affordable housing, the government has introduced a quote scheme for local councils. Richmondshire is required to identify areas where housing could be provided. It has to provide 250 houses each year.

At this early stage, some possible areas have been identified. If any are built in Constable Burton, two areas have been identified (see map). In a village of our size it would involve a maximum of five houses.

We emphasise that these plans are at an early stage. No more is likely to happen for some time. Constable Burton Estate will be applying for a quota in the summer. They favour the area to the west of the village when pedestrian access would be made onto the A684 and a path to the bus stop.
