Community Bus – an email had been received from John and Moira Edington, who were unable to attend the meeting. They drew attention to the shortage of public transport for village residents. The buses are few, and it is dangerous to walk to the bus stop. The meeting agreed that there was a need, and expressed surprise that there was no community bus based in Leyburn. Councillor Loadman will raise the issue at the next Parish Council meeting, and propose that all the local parish councils should be contacted to assess the need for a bus. The feedback should provide evidence for obtaining a grant for its purchase.

Constable Burton Station – John and Moira Edington also asked whether any progress had been made concerning the reopening of the station. Scruton and Aysgarth stations have been recently restored with grants from the Wensleydale Railway Trust and the Railway Preservation Trust. As the Constable Burton station has no existing buildings to restore/preserve it was considered unlikely that funds would be available.

Benches on the Green – Hilda Dobson expressed concern that the benches were broken, and reported that Derek Knights was willing to repair them if the materials could be provided. It was agreed that this would be done. Councillor Anna Corbett would confirm that the £30 donation offered by the parish council last year was still available, and that the Reading Room Committee were willing to pay the balance.

Field Gate – Stewart Ayers asked if the posts supporting the gate opposite Village Farm could be repaired. Councillor Keith Loadman agreed to deal with it.

Finally, Councillor Keith Loadman thanked the Jubilee Steering Committee, the Reading Room Committee and the whole village for organising a most successful Fair and Duck Race in the summer, and the various coffee mornings, teas and other
social events.

The meeting closed at 7.40pm
