Last weeks post about the new cinema at the Old School House proved very popular – so now that a new schedule of screenings has been published, I thought it would be of interest. At least this time you’ve a choice of what to go and see, and (at least with some of them) enough time to plan your visit!!
She here’s what’s showing over the next 4 weeks:
Anna Karenina (12A) starring Keira Knightley and Jude Law, an adaptation of Tolstoy’s stirring tale of love and marriage in imperial Russia about Anna Karenina, a young wife of an older husband who embarks upon an affair with the handsome County Vronsky (129 minutes). This is showing on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th at 4.30pm and 7.30pm.
The Bourne Legacy (12A) is showing on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th January at 4.30pm and 7.30pm, starring Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz. Centred on a hero whose stakes have been triggered by the events of the previous three films (135 minutes).
The Angels’ Share (15) described as Scotland’s equivalent of The Full Monty. Worth seeing and makes you want to drink whisky! Ken Loach’s bitter-sweet comedy, new Dad, Robbie narrowly avoiding jail, vows to turn a new leaf. A visit to a whisky distillery inspires him and his mates to seek a way out of their hopeless lives (101 minutes), starring Paul Brannigan and John Henshaw. Look out for this on Thursday 30th January and Friday 31st, showing at 5.00pm and 7.30pm.
Moving onto February:
Eagerly awaited, Judi Dench and Steve Coogan in Philomena (12A). Based on a powerful true story, a world weary political journalist picks up the story of a woman’s search for her son, who was taken away from her decades ago after she became pregnant and was forced to live in a convent (98 minutes). Having received good reviews, this one is likely to be popular, so reserve your seats! Showing on Thursday 6th February and Friday 7th at 5.00pm and 7.30pm.
