SCRUTON STATION – MARKING THE END OF ITS TEMPORARY CLOSURE
26TH APRIL 1954 – 26TH APRIL 2014
On 26th April the first trains since 1954 will be discharging passengers at Scruton Station. It isn’t possible yet to operate regular trains, for that we will need to build a further extension to the platform. Three trains will be running during the day and passengers will be treated to a ride from Leeming Bar to Scruton via Northallerton, sparkling wine on the platform and tea and cakes as part of a tour of the building. The fare of £30 includes a day rover for the line so provides outstanding value. Passengers will be provided with an Edmundson ticket for Leeming Bar to Scruton return numbered 2 to 150. Ticket number 1 will be auctioned later. Be one the first passengers to arrive at Scruton in 60 years! To book, call 08454 505474. More details here (visitors will also get the chance to see the Signal Box destined to be cited at Constable Burton, which is currently at Scruton and being painted prior to relocation)
