Constable Burton Summer Picnic 2020 – 30th August 1 – 5pm

CONSTABLE BURTON SUMMER PICNIC 2020

30th AUGUST 1 – 5PM

  1. Due to the pandemic activities are somewhat limited this year and some prizes have had to be changed from those originally advertised. However, the show will go on!
  2. Picnic. Bring your own picnic to the Green. A limited, no frills BBQ will be available but you will need to bring the ‘extras’.
  3. Activities and Prizes
    1. Planned activities are listed on the attached flier. It is hoped that as many as possible will join in, dress-up 1960s style and add a scarecrow to the trail.
    2. Children’s activities will include drawing competitions. Please bring pens/crayons and a blank drawing pad/paper.
    3. Donated prizes currently top £500.
  4. Covid Restrictions. Please:
    1. Observe social distancing and stay in your own family/bubble group.
    2. PPE. Bring masks and gloves if you wish to.
    3. Toilets. A one way system in the Reading Room will be in operation.
    4. Cash. For helpers to avoid handling lots of money please bring £1 coins and change.
    5. Sanitiser. Sanitiser will be made available at several locations.
  5. Wet Weather. In the ‘unlikely’ event of wet weather a decision to postpone will be taken in the morning of the 30th. The decision will be passed by ‘word of mouth’ with the help of the CBVSG.

Summary. Don’t let covid-19 defeat us. Come along and lets enjoy ourselves!

    1. Smithy Draw: £2 per duck. Buy in advance if you can from Hilly or George.
      1. First prize Family voucher for the Forbidden Corner.
      2. Second prize Sunday lunch for 2 at the Wensleydale Hotel, Middleham.
      3. Third prize Large wooden duck.
    2. Mill Draw: £2 per duck. No limit on the number you can buy.
      1. First prize Meal for 2 at the George and Dragon, Aysgarth.
      2. Second prize Large mixed grill voucher from Hall’s Family Butchers, Leyburn 
      3. Third prize Crab voucher from Carricks of Snape.
    3. Children’s Dry Draw: £1 per duck. Bet you would all love to win a fluffy duck!
      1. First prize Pizza and Burger family takeaway from The Key Centre,Middleham.
      2. Second prize Brymore’s Ice Cream £20 voucher.
      3. Third prize Yellow fluffy duck.

    2. Second prize Goodie Hamper donated by Barbara and Tony Knowles, Caravan Park, Constable Burton.

  3. 1960’s Fancy Dress. For the biggest swinger in town!
    1. Lady’s prize Meal for 2 at the Dante Arms, Middleham.
    2. Gent’s prize Gift pack of Taplin and Mageean gins and 2 goblets.
    3. Boy’s prize Rubber duck.
    4. Girl’s prize Costume Jewellery.
  4. Quiz. Who has got the brains in the village?
    1. Adult’s Prize Voucher for £20 from The Candle Factory, Wensley.
    2. Child’s Prize Voucher for £20 from Wensleydale Railway.
  5. Tombola with a Difference. Pick 5 numbers for a £1.
    1. TBC but to include a case of beer from Wensleydale Brewery, Leyburn.
    2. A bottle of wine and various gifts donated by Mr Stephen Hill, Masham.
    3. Dove toilet bag donated by Hilly Dobson.

  8. Guess the Cake’s Weight. £1 per guess. And no lead weights!

  9. No Frills BBQ. £2 per burger. They will be delicious!

    3. Beef burgers only. Onions optional!
